The Permission to Leave
For the woman quietly wondering if she’s allowed to want something else.
There comes a moment in many of our lives when something deep inside begins to stir. A quiet knowing. It could be a gentle little nudge. An invitation to be honest about what’s no longer aligned.
Whether it’s a relationship, a role, or a version of yourself you’ve outgrown, these moments can be profoundly clarifying. They don’t always come with drama or fanfare. Sometimes, they arrive as stillness. As silence. As a deep exhale that says, “It’s time.”
You don’t need a crisis to make a change. It’s also likely don’t need to wait until everything falls apart to choose peace. And you certainly you don’t need permission to honor what your heart already knows to be true.
For years, I stayed in a version of my life that appeared beautiful on the outside…stable, successful, and carefully curated. But over time, I began to feel disconnected from myself. From my work as a wrtier and from my truth.
That disconnection began to affect my health and my sense of inspiration, something I’ve since been able to process and explore through my upcoming book, Dear Universe 365. Writing it became a healing path for me in 2024, during one of the most difficult seasons of my life.
It wasn’t a single decision that changed everything. It was a series of small, sacred recognitions. I had so many tiny whispers of, “This isn’t working anymore.”
I wasn’t running away. I wasn’t angry. I simply realized I couldn’t keep saying “yes” to a version of life that quietly erased me and my sovereignty.
Letting go wasn’t easy, especially knowing how many people would be impacted.
But I came to believe something important: If I want my children to live in integrity with themselves, I must be willing to live that way too.
Choosing to begin again didn’t mean turning my back on the past.
It meant honoring where I’d been, and choosing a more truthful path forward for myself and my daughters.
If you’re at a crossroads right now, I want you to know and remember this:
You are allowed to evolve.
You are allowed to shift.
You are allowed to create a life that reflects who you are now, not just who you once were.
When someone makes a change whether it be emotionally, spiritually, or physically, they’re not giving up. They’re giving in to the truth that’s been patiently waiting.
You don’t have to be ready.
You just have to be honest.
That’s where the healing begins.
With Love and Gratitude,
Sarah Prout.

P.P.S. If this resonates, I created a sacred audio series called The Radiance Code—a space to return to your own frequency. We begin May 27.
Holy Moly. I just walked in the door from work, having given notice after months of angsty decision making. I’m leaving my job which is also my home, and it’s not easy because there is nothing “wrong”. Except it just isn’t right anymore.
And THIS is what I open. Mind blown. I’ve never felt so sure of a decision🩷
Thank you for this. I’ve shared it with a friend, also. Deep recognition here. 💕
